For the servicing of the infrastructure facilities of the Koralmbahn, the ASC (Asset Servicing Center) base Lavanttal was built for the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB). It consists of a two-story operational building, workshops, a storage hall for rail vehicles of the Facility Service Center, and a storage hall for the tunnel rescue train, including a base for the fire department.
The halls were equipped with a roof structure made of wooden frameworks. The roof surface alternates between upper and lower belts, allowing for continuous skylight bands.
The heating and cooling of the operational building are provided through geothermal energy, and the entire roof surface generates electricity from photovoltaic panels.
The project was executed as one of the first ÖBB BIM (Building Information Modeling) projects, and various use cases were tested as part of a pilot project.
