Dolder Waldhaus Hotel

Zurich, Switzerland

The design’s concept was a reinterpretation of the late 19th century vision of ‘the population enjoying nature, recreation and entertainment’. An abstract pattern, based on the branching structure of trees, was developed as the subject of the new Dolder Waldhaus, and a part of the forest was copied and pasted to transplant it into the property. This pattern can be seen on the surfaces of the structure, as well as within its spatial depths, as facade structure, roof structure and support structure in the entrance and terrace areas.

A green space will be created around the Waldhaus that continues the tradition of the green gardens to be found among the nearby exclusive residential area. This will create a very open area along with the Dolderbahn station, which will be embedded in this green space.
