The urban environment is characterized by a heterogeneous structure. The new building responds to this with a calm cubature that defines a uniform height and urban contour towards the green belt.

Hard spatial edges are formed towards the noisy street and the eastern railroad embankment, which shield the block and the new building. The buildings open up towards the existing quarter and the park. This creates an open and transparent structure that integrates the surroundings and does not close itself off.

The five main functional areas are each compactly combined in individual volumes, which ensures short internal routes. The functions are each grouped around internal green courtyards, some of them are accessible and available as terraces and break areas.
