The distinctive striped landscape of the Lavant Valley forms the guiding design principle for the technology park. Derived from the linear patterns of the cultural landscape, the masterplan establishes a robust and flexibly expandable framework, with development plots organized as linear development bands. In this way, the landscape remains legible within the urban structure itself, giving the district a distinctive and memorable identity.

A central north–south axis connects the railway station with the technology park, forming the communicative backbone of the district. A visitor centre, restaurants and cafés, and public squares create a vibrant urban core, while green climate corridors between the development bands provide spaces for interaction, recreation, and biodiversity. Along the gas pipeline corridor, an activity belt complements the network of open spaces and strengthens the connection between the technology park and the surrounding community.

A limited number of mobility corridors concentrate vehicular traffic, enabling a largely car-free district. The overall landscape framework is defined by a “Wild Landscape” featuring retention areas, woodland planting, and species-rich open spaces.

The result is a technology park that does not replace the landscape but builds upon it: From Field to Code to District – The Landscape Becomes Structure.
