The building site has special characteristics due to its proximity to various protected areas and special nature conservation requirements. The overarching concept is therefore based on the premise of making the building as compact as possible and embedding it in the landscape with the greatest possible sensitivity.

The structure is made up of 2 cuboids that are offset from each other. Their heights are defined by their respective uses and are kept as low as possible. The interlocking of the two components is a result of the functional concept, but it also results in reduced façade lengths and thus a scale appropriate to the location.

The external appearance develops from the different heights of the individual areas. The height of the volumes is structured by means of 3-layer zoning. This creates a 3-volume façade that contributes to the visual reduction in height of the building sections.

The use of wood as a façade material supports the embedding in the surrounding natural space.

The high-quality and diverse open space typologies increase biodiversity at the site and harmoniously integrate the new depot into the surrounding landscape. The outdoor facilities themselves become a valuable natural and landscape space and protect existing structures on the site.
