Sendlinger Tor handles around 145,000 passengers per day and serves as a hub for five underground lines, making it one of the most important hubs of Munich’s public transport network.
The concept for the modernisation is a bright and monochrome design for all surfaces, which contrasts with the dark uncovered track area. The materials will range from white to light grey and will be overlaid by dynamic lighting. This will be a natural white light in waiting areas and thoroughfares, which will brighten and darken in time with approaching trains near the platform areas. In the track areas, colourful illumination announces the next train with the line’s colour – the ‘colourful pulse’ of the platform.
