The building site is located near the center of Velden. The plan is to build apartments in combination with an accommodation facility with a health focus on resilience.

The concept envisages the positioning of 4 buildings of roughly the same size. The houses are positioned in such a way that the existing orthogonality of the adjacent buildings is taken up and the distances to the neighboring buildings and between the new buildings are as generous as possible.

The loosened-up development structure allows for generous open spaces and blends in well with the surrounding buildings in terms of scale. The staggered arrangement of the buildings creates open space “pockets” that guarantee views in all directions.

A slightly folded balcony and terrace zone running around each storey gives the buildings a horizontal structure and thus forms a key design feature.

Private gardens form the green bracket around the residential buildings, while communal areas with different uses fill the open spaces between the buildings. A circular walkway (garden loop) and the central access axis connect the open spaces.
